Slabs. The price of a stone slab depends mainly on the process required to prepare it for use. Some types of natural stone can work out cheaper than man-made stone, despite the common assumption that natural stone is more expensive. This is because
natural stone requires less processing than
reconstituted stone. Other factors that make some more expensive than others are its rarity, popularity and the distance it had to travel to get here.
Within each stone brand there are usually 4-5 different levels of pricing, from a ‘standard’ range right up to a ‘deluxe’ or ‘exclusive’ range.
Labour. The least-expensive edge profile is a 20mm pencil round, this is because most slabs come in 20mm to begin with. Other factors that will affect the labour cost are, mitred edges, cutouts, complexity of the job etc.
